Hosting Talk UK is a matchmaking summit for the hosting industry, run by the same team behind the highly successful CloudTalks conference, the largest Cloud Expo of Eurasia.
Given local and global restrictions, the first annual Hosting Talk UK was limited to a virtual event. While the event looks forward to promoting a potential live event before the year ends, the virtual summit featured some excellent content from the who’s who of the industry. Launched a few days before the event officially started, the online platform let attendees browse the virtual conference setup, and reach out to sponsors and users alike.
Hosting Talks UK Virtual Platform
Zoom fatigue or not, video conferencing software and virtual conferences are here to stay. So using an industry-standard Virtual Platform is crucial, and Hosting Talk UK delivered with the well-known and used Hubilo platform. As for networking, Hosting Talks UK offered several ways for attendees to interact:
- The HostingTalk Feed created a mini social network inside the event. Users posted everything from contests, talks, offers, and of course, adverts.
- Virtual Networking Tables had a great table for networking at HostingTalks UK.
- Attendee Chat took a back seat to networking at Hosting Talks UK, with the conversations focused on the usual cold-call chats and industry friend shoutouts.
As far as the platform goes, the team’s familiarity with Hublio led to enjoyable performance, barring the average glitch or two.
Cloudways at Hosting Talk UK
The event kicked things off with a talk from Cloudways’ Director of WordPress Robert Jacobi: “Software is Changing – Hosting, Be Prepared!”. In this featured session, Robert focused on the core changes to hosting environments we have seen in the past and what to expect from hosting platform software moving into the future.
Later that afternoon, Robert Jacobi led a Panel Discussion on the WordPress Economy. Panelists included Cloudways’ own Jason Nickerson, Robbie Adair of OSTraining, Kathy Zant of StellarWP, and Emily Hunkler of GOWP. The discussion flowed around several key points: Training, Plugins and Acquisitions, Support and Development, and of course, hosting.
